Firefox to blaze the social networking trail

A growing pool of web users, especially the discerning ones who have adopted Firefox as their browser of choice have a lot to cheer about in the days to come. For, the browser that is a big headache in the making to IE has upped the browser war ante by trying to integrate Social Networking applications into the firefox browser.

Innovation in the form of tabbed browsing, pop up blockers and bookmarks integration might have given it the big push at the start, but with IE7 matching up, the intial advantage has been lost. Whats happening at the Mozilla labs really? What are its plans in the present ’social networking” age? Get the real beef here.

I am not sure about the browser wars because I have been an IE faithful so long. I guess its is the youth and the techno geeks who are defining the new rules for this game. For most people, with limited exposure to newer technologies and limited networking with techno-savvy people, I guess the traditional model rules.

However, we have seen the slow and gradual collapse of Netscape. IE is still preferred. Firefox is growing. We all are waiting and watching the progress. But to switchover to a new broswer is also attitudinal change, which the 30+generation may not be too willing to experiment. But if Mozilla and friends are comming up with features that are going to re-define the way we use the browsers with concepts closer to networking, community building, et al…. then it might be the ultimate time bomb waiting to explode.

To settle down with a good browser takes a lot of technological innovation and lateral thinking. I would think of a great browser that can help me search, be an antivirus, popup blocker, media center, bookmarks, prediction tool, and what not. I am not sure if browser is a web experience by itself… I am waiting (to experiment).

    Hello Critique,

The guys at Mozilla labs know what they are doing. The advantage of an open source community developing applications is the incredible quantum of knowledge pooling of domain expertise that really is the big difference. IE will always be a major player since its bundled with the windows software though in the long run, its firefox that will prevail with its add-ons, themes and plugins..Lets see how it goes.
